Maryland GOP Selects Harris as Chair and Other Members

The Maryland Republican Party announced it has selected new leadership at its annual fall convention at Hanover during the weekend. Nicole Beus Harris, wife of Congressman Andy Harris, has been selected as the party’s new chair. She take over for outgoing Chair Dirk Haire.

Nicole Bennett was named 1st Vice Chairman, Heath Barnes was named 2nd Vice Chairman, Dwight Patel was named 3rd Chair and Mark Uncapher was named GOP Secretary as a result of the elections.

The only other person to run for Chair was Tim Fazenbaker. There was some controversy as former Lt. Gov. candidate Gordana Schifanelli tried to run for Chair but was not allowed as The GOP claims her and her team filed too late.

Not everyone was happy with the results. Some commenters on the MD GOP Facebook are still upset that Schifanelli Unity Team was not allowed to run.

Cheryl Riley, a candidate for Montgomery County Council – District 4, was one of those critics that left a comment about the results.

“Just disgusting. The MDGOP just voted for more RINOS who will do nothing but ensure they prove how out of touch, all talk no action they are. They handed our great state over to socialist/woke destruction.. and did NOTHING for candidates,” Riley said.
