Thiam Running for Congress in District 6

Former Del. Brenda Thiam announced she is running for Congress in District 6. The Hagerstown resident is going after Democrat David Throne’s open seat as he is running for the open U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.

Thiam was appointed to the House of Delegates by Gov. Larry Hogan in 2020. She was unsuccessful in retaining her seat in 2022 as she lost to Democrat Brooke Grossman.
Thiam and Woodsboro Mayor Heath Barnes are the only high profile Republican candidates that filled in CD-6.

After redistricting in 2022, many feel that this District is a toss-up.

Republican Neil Parrot was leading Throne before mail-in ballots were counted that shifted the race for the Democrats.

Parrott and/or GOP house minority leader Jason Buckel are other possible Republican names that could enter this race.
