All Democrats Voted in Favor of Paint Tax

The House of Delegates passed HB 1, better known as the Paint Tax.

The bill passed on partisan lines 99 to 37 as all the “yes” votes were from Democrats and all Republicans voted against the bill.

The most disturbing news about this vote was that none of the “moderate” Democrats voted against this bill. It was disappointing to see Sheree Sample-Hughes, Gary Simmons, Carl Jackson, Michele Guyton and both Democratic Johnsons in District 34A (Steve Johnson and Andre Johnson) also voted in favor of this bill.

With all of the gerrymandering and strong Democratic stronghold in the state, you have to wonder if the “moderate Democrat” is a thing of the past.

We saw what happened to Sample-Hughes when she voted against the Democratic machine last year.
