Republicans, along with six Democrats & Unions, Oppose HB 1319

Members of the Republican Caucus of the House of Delegates addressed the media about iGaming and why they think it is wrong for Maryland on Friday

Maryland State & DC AFL-CIO, UNITE HERE, Local 7, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 27, and the Seafarers Entertainment and Allied Trades Union (SEATU) also oppose the bill. Union members held rally at Lawyers Mall opposing against HB 1319 and iGaming.
This iGaming bill would allow casino type games available on the Internet where players 21 and older could play on their phones.
All Republicans voted against this bill in the House and a few Democrats also voted against this bill too. Montgomery County Del. Joe Vogel was a “no” in committee and he was joined by Democratic Delegates Gabriel Acevero, Tiffany Alston, Sheree Sample- Hughes, Heather Bagnall and Gary Simmons  on the floor.
Although HB 1319 passed through the House it appears the bill won’t have the same success in the Senate.
