Smero Joins 8th District House of Delegates Race
Baltimore County Republican Central Committee Chairperson Kathleen Smero is running for the House of Delegates. Smero officially filed to run for the House in District 8 on Thursday, April 14. She is a resident of Perry Hall.
“So it’s official — today I threw my hat in the ring to run for Delegate in the 8th Legislative District.
I am looking forward to campaigning and meeting people,” Smero said in a statement on April 14.
“I could use your support— personal, prayers, and yes, financial if you have a few bucks to spare.

The 8th District is much different in 2022 as Democratic Delegates Harry Bhandari and Carl Jackson are still seeking reelection but Republican Delegate Joe Boteler is now in the new District 7A, which was created with redistricting.
Smero joins fellow Republicans Glen Geelhaar and Timothy M. Neubauer in the 8th District House race. Ken Fitch is the only Republican that filed for state Senate in District 8. Fitch will challenge long-time Democratic Sen. Kathy Klausmeier in November
