Morgan Running for Congress in District 3

Yuripzy Morgan is now running for Congress in District 3. The former WBAL Radio Show host announced in February that she was running for Congress in District 2 against Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger.

Morgan is a resident of Anne Arundel County and she was set to reside in District 2. Then the courts strike down the gerrymandered map passed by the Democratic majority in the General Assembly. The new map were drawn and Morgan’s home is now in Congress District 3. The map extends from northern Anne Arundel County to Howard County. This is expect to be a strong year for Republicans.

Unlike state legislature districts, a Congressional candidate is not required to live in his/her district. Morgan could have remained a candidate in District 2, but she decided to run in her home district.

“Are you in the new District 3,…….. then join our team. You can still join our team even if you’re not in the new district. We’ll need help door knocking, walking in parades, hosting meet and greets, and a whole lot of other things to win in November,” Morgan announced on April 8. “I’m now running in 3 against John Sarbanes.”

Morgan ran for Congress in 2016.

Nat Silver of fivethirtyeight.com projects that District 3 has shifted to a Democrat +14 and The Cook Political Report has CD-2 at a more competitive level for Republicans at Democrat + 9 for the new map.
