“Vaccine Without Parent Permission” Bill Dies

Maryland Republicans are happy to report that a bill that would have allowed young children to get a vaccine without parent permission, was withdrawn.

The bill was SB 378 and it would allow a 14-year-old (or a younger child a provider deems “able to give informed consent) to be vaccinated without parental consent.

It was also disturbing that the bill would prohibit parents from being informed after the vaccination took place.

The bill was scheduled for a Feb. 22 hearing but the bill sponsor Sen. Cheryl Kagan withdrew the bill. Republicans called it a victory for parents.

“GREAT NEWS!! The bill to allow minors to be vaccinated without parental consent, SB378, was withdrawn!! A BIG WIN FOR PARENTS!!! ,” wrote Del. Kathy Szeliga.
