Democrats Attack Their Speaker Pro Tempore

It appears Sheree Sample-Hughes is on the Democrats’naught list. The Democratic Delegate and speaker pro tempore could be on the verge of losing her “second in command” position in the House of Delegates.

The Delmarva Now reported that Speaker Adrienne Jones is set to name Baltimore County Delegate Dana Stein as new speaker pro tempore.

The Delmarva Now reported that Sample-Hughes had too many “no” votes this past session and that angered the Speaker.

Those “no votes” included the controversial gun bill SB 1, the Maryland Medical Assistance Program – Gender–Affirming Treatment bill (Trans Health Equity Act) and virtual learning bill. 

Sample-Hughes is a Democratic Delegate on the conservative Eastern Shore so she needs to vote like a moderate.

In today’s Democratic party, that is unacceptable. You vote with fellow Democrats or you are out.

Sadly that is true for Sample-Hughes and it was reported she was asked to step down as speaker pro tempore.
