Maryland Federation of Republican Women Show “Pride”

The Maryland Federation of Republican Women are under fire for sharing a pride flag on their Facebook page last week.

The image (pictured above) showed a picture of a rainbow with the message “It’s a big tent party”.

That resulted in a few comments that questioned the decision.

There are two schools of thought on this decision to post a pride image.

Yes, the Republican Party has many gay members and it is important to let them know they are supported and welcomed into the party.

On the other hand, Republican members of the General Assembly just spent the last 90 days battling controversy bills such as Trans Health Equity Act which will expand surgeries, harmful hormone treatments, and other treatments for children.

Delegate Kathy Szelgia also introduced a bill that would ban transgender men from playing in women’s sports.

The Democrats didn’t let the bill sit in the drawer. Instead they had the audacity to vote the bill down in committee. Most Republican bills just sit in the drawer but they brought it out and voted down the bill to send a message.

So most Republicans are starting to look at the pride flag as a war on women’s sports.

Whether it is fair or not.
