Ferguson is now all-in for gerrymandering Maryland Congressional districts
Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson had a change of heart. Now he agrees with the Democratic establishment that Maryland needs to gerrymandering all eight Congressional seats.
According to Ferguson, Donald Trump has gone too far with his legislation to make elections fair and the unconstitutional Congressional Map in Virginia being voted down is a reason to gerrymander all of Maryland’s districts.
Or did he see the writing on the wall. Did he see that Wes Moore endorsed nearly every Democratic delegate and senator but not Ferguson? Or was it that his primary opponent out raised him during the last fundraising cycle?
Ferguson went against the Democratic establishment and now he realizes his seat could be in trouble for the June primary.
Luckily, it is too little late. The ballots have been created and the district lines are already cemented for 2026.
The Democrats will try again to redraw the lines in 2028 and 2030 and definitely try to create eight Democratic Congressional districts when the line must be drawn again every 10 years in 2032.
Ferguson is pandering to the Democratic base but it might be too late to get back into the establishment’s good side.
