Impallaria Falls Short in District 7B Primary

Del. Rick Impallaria will not return to Annapolis as a delegate next year. He has served since 2003.

The Harford County Delegate was defeated in a new single-member by fellow Republican Delegate Lauren Arikan in District 7B.

District 7 had the trio of Arikan, Impallaria and Kathy Szeliga.

Redistricting created a two-member 7A Districtin Baltimore County and a single-member district in Harford County. Arikan and Impallaria were pitted against each other in District 7B.

Arikan nearly received 54 percent of the vote. Impallaria had around 34 percent of the vote. Three others combined for 12 percent.

In District 7A, Szeliga was the top vote getter with 36 percent of the vote. Ryan Nawrocki took the other spot with 27 percent of the vote.

Steve Redmer finished third and 600 votes behind Nawrocki.

Del. Joe Boteler was redistricted from District 8 to District 7A and he only received 14 percent in the new district.
