Democrats Look Bad Blaming Trump for Credit Rating Downgrade

Moody’s has lowered Maryland’s credit rating from Triple A bond rating to Aa1 rating.
This is the first time since 1973 that Maryland’s bond is lower than AAA.
This is an embrassment to the state and of course Democrats needed someone to blame.
“To put it bluntly, this is a Trump downgrade. Over the last one hundred days, the federal administration’s decisions have wreaked havoc on the entire region, including Maryland,” said a statement from the Democratic officials.
Now blaming Donald Trump is usually a great strategy for Maryland Democrats.
Trump only received around 34 percent of the vote in the last election and even Republicans like Larry Hogan don’t like Trump.
But the president took office less than four months ago and even the biggest Trump haters know that this one is not on him.
If it’s the federal government’s fault, than the other 49 states will have a reduction in their rating too. Right? No!
Maryland has had problems for years, and many believe it was only a matter of time before the reduction.
Kirwan is a hefty price tag. Democrats talked about trying to reduce the education initiative to save costs, but it was all talk.
The fact the Democrats came out with a statement about the Moody reduction proves two things.
One, they acknowledged that this is a big deal. Second, they needed to desperately blame someone for their mess.
It may have been better strategy
if Democrats ignored the reduction and critized the Republicans for blowing the news out or proportion.
Maybe the Democrats even know they can’t sweep this embarrassment under the rug.
