We Need a GOP Debate with Cox, Hale, Myrick and That’s All
Another Republican Gubertorial debate was held in Baltimore County last week, and no one cared.
This debate was similar to the Republican Gubernatorial debate in Anne Arundel County on March 26.
Every Republican that filed for Governor was invited to the debate and every candidate showed up with the exception of Dan Cox and Ed Hale.
I was very critical of Hale announcing that he was missing that first debate (or I guess the forum as they call it) because it appeared he was ducking Cox, but then Cox missed the debate too.
It was no surprise that Cox and Hale also missed the second event in Baltimore County and every other candidate appeared.
The initial thought is that all candidates should be invited and Cox and Hale need to show too, but can you blame them for not going? What is the purpose of them appearing in a crowded field with no-name candidates?
It’s understandable that these GOP clubs and organizations want to extend an invitation to all GOP Gubernatorial candidates regardless of their bank accounts and place in the polls, but these events are meaningless without the top guys.
I’m not aware of any other Republican Gubernatorial events between now and June 23, but it’s fair to assume they would have the same open forum for all candidates.
Can someoneĀ (perhaps a TV or radio station) please hold a debate between Dan Cox, Ed Hale and John Myrick? These are the top three guys in this race and it’s time for a real debate.
If one of these guys backs out of this real debate, it is a true reflection on that candidate. To avoid any conflicted schedules, contact the three camps and try to set a time and location so there is no excuses for absences.
Let’s make this happen.
