The Maryland Freedom Caucus announced that the controversial bill, which would have repealed the prohibition on sale of contraceptives and contraceptive devices by vending machine in school, died in a Senate committee. Here is their official statement below:
The Maryland Freedom Caucus is proud to announce a major victory in the fight to protect Maryland’s children and uphold parental rights.
Today, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee unanimously rejected HB380—a bill that would have allowed condoms and other birth control to be dispensed via vending machines in nursery, elementary, middle and high schools.
The bill was reported out of committee unfavorably without a hearing, effectively killing it before it could reach the Senate floor.
Dubbed “Condoms for Kindergartners” by the Freedom Caucus, HB380 was one of the most extreme and unnecessary bills pushed by progressive lawmakers this session.
The legislation ignored Maryland’s real crises—failing schools, a crippling teacher shortage, and soaring living costs—in favor of radical social policies that strip away parental rights and expose children to inappropriate content at an unthinkably young age.
“This is a huge win for Maryland families,” said Delegate Kathy Szeliga, Vice Chair of the Maryland Freedom Caucus.
“The Maryland Freedom Caucus led the charge in exposing the radical nature of HB380, and today’s vote proves that even members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee couldn’t defend it. Maryland parents have spoken, and lawmakers were forced to listen.”
HB161 Still Looms—The Fight Continues While HB380 has been defeated, HB161 remains a serious threat.
This bill mandates genderideology and sexuality education standards in Maryland classrooms—without allowing parents toopt out.
The Freedom Caucus remains fully committed to fighting HB161 and will continue exposing how the Maryland legislature is pushing radical social engineering instead of fixing ourbroken education system.
“We’re not done yet,” said Delegate Matt Morgan, Chair of the Maryland Freedom Caucus.
“HB161 is still alive, and we need every Marylander to stand up and fight back before it’s too late.”
The Maryland Freedom Caucus will continue to oppose extreme policies, stand for parental rights and fight for real solutions to our state’s education crisis.
We urge every concerned citizen to contact their State Senators and demand they reject HB161.
Our children deserve education, not indoctrination—and the Maryland Freedom Caucus will not stop fighting for them.
