Democrats have candidates for all 188 MD House & Senate slots
The Democrats control 102 of the 141 seats in the Maryland House of Delegates and ** of the 47 seats in the Maryland Senate.
It appears Democrats won’t be happy until they capture all 188 seats and they have candidates for the all 141 House seats and a candidate for all 47 Senate seats.
The Republicans were hoping to get back to the 2015 days when they had 50 seats in the House. Instead they might be fighting to maintain the 39 seats they currently occupy.
It doesn’t how red the district, the Democrats are going after those seats.
Because of gerrymandering, many of those red districts are safe as Republicans are have been jammed into districts so Democrats can easily win the old background areas of District 3, 8, 30 and 32.
The most frustrating part is that the GOP is/was missing candidates in “winnable” districts. Some candidates appointed by the local central committees.
No, there is no sense of having Republicans file in unwinnable districts in Baltimore City, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, but it would be nice to see more GOP candidates file in Anne Arundel, Harford County and the Eastern Shore.
