Klausmeier Upsets Residents by Selecting Baltimore County Inspector General Appointee

There is controversy in Baltimore County as their County Executive Kathy Klausmeier is switching Inspector Generals. She has named Khadija E. Walker as her appointee for Baltimore County Inspector General.

With all due respect to Ms. Walker, many are upset that current IG Kelly Madigan is not returning.

The job of the Baltimore County’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to identify waste, fraud, and abuse in county government.

Many Republicans (and even some Democrats) says this is a bad look for the County Executive as Madigan was outstanding at doing her job and that’s probably the reason she is not returning.

Walker’s nomination must be approved by the members of the Baltimore County Council and that is not a slam dunk.

Republican Baltimore County Councilmen Todd Crandell, David Marks and Wade Kach will said they all support Madigan and Marks said that he would only support Madigan’s nomination.

Democratic Councilman Izzy Patoka also supported Madigan as IG. It will be interesting to see if Walker has enough votes on the Council to get confirmed.
