Ed Hale Turns Down Chance to Debate Republicans

Multiple Republican groups/clubs in Anne Arundel County are holding a Republican Gubernatorial candidate debate on March 26 at 7 p.m.

The event is being held at the Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd in Annapolis.

All nine candidates have been invited and it appears most are expect to attend, but one high-profile candidate won’t be there.

The Maryland Black Republican Council said that Ed Hale has declined, stating he has a conflict that evening.

With the exception of an already preplanned family event, Hale needs to be at this debate.

If he has a campaign event or business responsibilites, he needs to prioritize this debate and reschedule the conflict.

As a candidate, it’s fair to question if these debates are worth attending when it is a crowded field of all nine candidates that entered the race.

But when your biggest rival (Dan Cox) is attending and you switched from a Democrat to a Republican, you have to get your message out.

Yes, Ed Hale is probably the only Republican that can beat Wes Moore, but don’t assume you have the nomination wrapped up.

This isn’t the 2024 Presidential GOP primary and you aren’t Donald Trump, who already had the primary won and didn’t need to debate. You are not the presumptive nominee.

If you don’t plan to debate the other Republican Gubernatorial candidates, you should drop out of the race. There is no way you can win the nomination without debating.
