Dan Cox Files to Run for Governor Again

Dan Cox is once again running for Governor.

The Frederick resident and 2022 Republican Gubernatorial nominee filed for the state’s highest office at the Board of Elections on Friday.

Cox upset Larry Hogan endorsed candidate Kelly Schutz in the 2022 GOP primary before being defeated by then Democratic candidate Wes Moore nearly 2 to 1.

Rob Krop filed as Cox’s running mate.

Cox’s website is active but was not updated.

He joins a GOP Gubernatorial field that includes John Myrick, Ed Hale and many others.

Since former Governor Larry Hogan announced he was not running in 2026, this primary is wide open.

Maryland Senate Minority Leader Steve Hershey has expressed interest in running for Governor but has not made a decision at this time.
